thaw.

a late october rain filled this birdbath. winter’s plunging temperature locked it into solid form. today it begins to thaw.

there are parts of my  life that were once fluid. once free. they too have been locked into the shape of their environs.

how does one regain freedom and fluidity after falling prey to the rigor mortise of such an ice age?
